Economizer in a boiler

 Economizer

Definition of Economizer

Economizer is a mechanical device which increases the efficiency of boiler. Economizers are heat exchangers that move the hotness in the pipe gas to another medium‚ by and large the heater feed-water‚ albeit different streams are once in a while utilized, for example, make-up water. There are 2 sorts of economizers: non-consolidating and gathering.

Function of Economizer

1. It is used in thermal and nuclear power plant.
 2. It is increasing the temperature.
3. For it increases the efficiency of boiler.

working

With the help of economizer the temperature of boiler water is increased.  Water boils at a certain temperature in the boiler and turns into steam.  The turbine is rotated using the force of that steam.  Then electricity is produced by coupling the generator with the turbine.  The steam now produced is cooled by a cooling tower and turned into water again.  And that water again comes to the economizer with the help of centrifugal pipes.  In the economizer the liquid is hit with the help of fuel barn then this hit liquid goes to the boiler.  Here the amount of fuel in the boiler goes less to get the hit liquid boiler and the total efficiency is increased by approximately 8%.  In this way the economizer pre-hits the liquid and sends it to the boiler.

Type of economizer

there are two type one is pressurized economizer and non pressurized economizer

non condensing economizer

The most widely recognized are non-gathering economizers. They are heat exchanger coils‚ typically finned‚ that are situated in the pipe gas ducting at the exit of the heater. Typically‚ a non-consolidating economizer will raise the general productivity by 2% to 4%. They are planned and work to keep up with the pipe gas temperature over the pipe gas gathering temperature to forestall consumption of the vent gas ducting. This is especially significant for powers containing sulphur‚ as sulfurous mixtures will frame in the vent gas that will both raise the general pipe gas dewpoint and when buildup happens will prompt the arrangement of sulphuric acid‚ which is exceptionally destructive.

condensing economizer

Gathering economizers are intended to oblige the destructive liquids produced when consolidating the dampness out of the pipe gas. There are 2 kinds of gathering economizers: heat exchanger and direct contact (splash). They catch considerably more hotness and accordingly can raise the general evaporator proficiency by 10% to 15%. For consolidating economizers to be the most effective‚ low temperature heat sinks are needed to bring the pipe gas temperature well underneath the vent gas gathering temperature.
Economiser

advantage of economizer

1. The use of economizer results in less amount of fuel in the boiler.
2. Efficiency is increase approximately 8%

Disadvantage

Sending fuel barn over the economizer causes a layer of carbon to fall on the economizer so that the economizer cannot capture heat very well.

Application of Economizer

It is used in thermal and nuclear power plant

air preheater in thermal power plant - function , construction , working ,advantage , disadvantage

definition of air preheater air preheater increase the temperature  of the air. It is most commonly used in thermal power plant. And it is increase the efficiency of the boiler. Working of air preheaters (APH) 1. The hot fuel gas from the economist first enters the air preheater. Then those gases go through the tube to the chimney. The air mass then enters the preheater through the air inlet.  2.  Then both air and fuel gas flow in opposite directions.  3. baffles are provided in the air preheater to provide more time for exchanging heat from fuel gas to air   4. thus heat is absorbed by the air from the fuel gas. 5. this preheater air is supplied to the furnace.  construction   1. A tubular type air preheater is a large number of tube . 2. the fuel gas pass through the tube. 3. air flows over the tube. 4. baffles are provided to pass the air b number of time over the tube.  5. a soot hopper is provided at the bottom to collect the soo...

Strain gauge || what is strain gauge ? || Working principle of strain gauge || Example-types of strain gauge

what is strain gauge ? A string gauge is a sensor which whose resistance varies with applied force.it converts force, pressure, tension weight e.t.c in to a Electrical resistance which can then be measured like pizo resistive transducer. Working principle of strain gauge : As we applied forced to extend the length of gauge it's cross section area must reduce becouse volume of material remain constant. Then strain gauge is connected to a balanced whiston  bridge but as force is applied on gauge resistance change and bridge becomes unbalanced producing V0                       Gauge factor Gf=1+2Y Y= paison ratio Using gauge factor we determined change in resistance to the modify resistance and then using Wheaton bridge V0 Examples : Gauge factor in semiconductor is 120 Gauge factor in Ni=12 Gauge factor in co=4.9 Gauge factor in pt=5.2 C=10 types of strain gauge 1. Straight strain checks.  2. Layer Rosette strain checks....

Construction of silicon control rectifier (SCR)

SCR- silicon control rectifier Construction 1. Anode and cathode region are highly drop where gate as moderately drop and drift layer are lightly drop. 2. SCR can be visualized as too BJT (PNP) and ( n p n) connected together 3. SCR is the minority carrier device and it has three p n junction . Disadvantage of SCR 1. Switching is very least while T-off highest  2. More switching loss 3. More conductivity modulation , least R-oN  4. Minimum oN state drop and minimum conductivity loss  # SCR contains three p n junction J1 anode and drift - anode is highly drop , depletion low J2 drift and gate - lightly drop , depletion low J3 gate and cathode - highly drop , depletion low Since there is light dropping on both side of J2  So breakdown voltage is high for junction J2  Reverse blocking Let ,            Anode is connected to negative terminal of supply which cathode is connected to positive terminal of supply  1. J1 and J2 rev...
